Travel documents

ITALY AND EUROPEAN COUNTRIES IN THE SCHENGEN AREA

Flying in Italy

For EU citizens, the identity card (paper or card), passport and documents recognised as equivalent in Article 35, paragraph 2, of Presidential Decree no. 445 of 28 December 2000 are valid for travel within the national territory, provided that they bear a photograph and a stamp or other equivalent marking, issued by a State administration, namely:

  • Driving licence
  • Nautical licence
  • Pension book
  • Certification for operating thermal systems
  • Firearm licence

Flying to European Countries adhering to the Schengen Agreements

Thanks to the Schengen Agreements, EU citizens can travel simply with a valid identity card for international travel or with their passport. Passengers who are not EU citizens may travel exclusively by presenting their passport.

Passengers who present themselves at check-in or security checks without suitable documentation will not be allowed on any SkyAlps flight, unless specific written authorisation is granted by law enforcement authorities.

NON-SCHENGEN AND NON-EU COUNTRIES

In EU countries that have not signed the Schengen Agreements, as well as in countries that are not part of the EU, a passport is required, unless there are bilateral agreements in place.

It is the passenger's responsibility to check with the Embassy or Consulate of the destination or transit country whether a visa is required for entry.

United Kingdom

As of 1 October 2021, according to the provisions of the British Government, it is no longer possible to enter the United Kingdom using an identity card; a passport with a validity equal to the duration of stay must be presented.

Passengers who present themselves at check-in or security checks without suitable documentation will not be permitted on any SkyAlps flight, unless specific written authorisation is granted by law enforcement authorities.
