Baggage allowance

Hand luggage

  • The maximum size of hand luggage is 55 x 40 x 23 cm and the maximum permitted weight is 8 kg;
  • Hand luggage must fit easily into the overhead compartments, flight attendants must be able to be closed the compartments without problems or resistance;
  • Hand luggage that exceeds the dimensions and/or weight will be counted as checked-in luggage for which a fee of €44.00 will be charged;
  • In addition to the hand luggage, each passenger is allowed to take one personal item, e.g. a handbag, small backpack, document bag, camera bag or similar (maximum size: 40 x 30 x 20 cm);
  • For children under 4 years of age, it is possible to take a foldable pushchair as hand luggage: it will be possible to use the pushchair up to the aircraft stairs, after which it must be handed over to the ground staff who will embark it in the hold. Upon arrival the pushchair will be returned under the aircraft steps and can be used to leave the airport.

 

Permitted items:

  • Personal items (clothing, accessories, toys...);
  • Photographic equipment;
  • Liquids in containers not exceeding 100 ml each for a maximum total of 1 litre per passenger;
  • Solid food, preferably vacuum-packed;
  • Medicines (if in liquid form with a quantity exceeding 100 ml, a medical certificate must be presented);
  • For children under the age of 2: Food and drinks for the duration of the flight.

 

Prohibited items:

  • Weapons (both for sporting use and toy weapons), such as guns, air weapons, slingshots, harpoons, bows, arrows, fireworks, etc;
  • Blunt or sharp objects, including knives, scissors, razor blades, sharp work tools, etc;
  • Highly flammable chemicals;
  • Potentially dangerous objects, such as sticks, baseball bats, drones, work tools, etc.

Checked luggage

  • The maximum permitted size is 100 x 50 x 80 cm for a maximum weight of 15 kg (or 30 kg for SkyPLUS fare).
  • Bag pooling between passengers on the same flight reservation/travelling on the same flight is not allowed.
  • It is forbidden to carry electronic devices powered by lithium batteries in checked luggage.
  • Please note: children under 2 years of age have no checked luggage included in their ticket.

 

  • Luggage exceeding the maximum permitted weight will be subject to a surcharge as per the table below:
01 - 05 kg 33,00 €
06 - 10 kg 44,00 €
10 - 17 kg 55,00 €
   

Sports equipment

For all our sports-loving passengers, indulging their passion will no longer be a problem. Sports equipment luggage costs 55,00 €, can have a maximum weight of approximately 15-20 kg and varying dimensions depending on the item carried. In the sports equipment luggage you can carry:

 

Golf equipment:

  • Maximum number of baggage items: 1;
  • 1 golf bag with a set of golf clubs, balls and tees and one pair of golf shoes;
  • Dimensions (height + width + depth): 220 cm;
  • All items must be packed in the golf bag. Electric golf trolleys are prohibited.

 

Winter sports equipment:

  • Maximum number of baggage items: 2;
  • 1. item of baggage: one pair of skis OR one snowboard
  • 2. item of baggage: one pair of ski poles + one pair of ski boots OR one pair of snowboard boots + one helmet;
  • Dimensions (length only): 200 cm.

 

Bicycles:

  • Maximum number of baggage items: 1;
  • 1 bicycle (electric and/or motorised bicycles are prohibited) OR 1 bicycle trolley OR 1 unicycle;
  • Dimensions (height + width + depth): 280 cm;
  • Bicycles may only be accepted if packed in a suitable bicycle travel case or similar container.The bicycle must be prepared as follows: lowered saddle, pedals secured with tape, front wheel removed and secured to the frame with tape, handlebars aligned with the frame and secured with tape, tyres deflated, sensitive bicycle parts covered with protective material and any protruding parts covered with cardboard. SkyAlps does not supply packaging material. SkyAlps does not provide packaging material.

 

In sports equipment in the luggage it is also possible to carry:

  • Fishing equipment;
  • Surfing equipment;
  • Diving equipment with empty diving bottles, removed power source or with lamp switches secured in a switched-off state.

 

Please note:

  • Transport of electric means of transportation powered by lithium batteries (Lithium Powered Personal Devices) is never permitted, regardless of the battery power.
  • The number of sports baggage items on each flight is limited. If the service is no longer bookable, it is NOT possible to transport sports equipment by booking additional baggage.
  • Trekking poles must be placed in your check-in baggage, if included in your ticket fare. If you are travelling with hand luggage only, please drop off your trekking poles at the check-in counter. There is no extra charge for the transport of trekking poles.

Musical instruments

All musical instruments whose sum of dimensions (55 cm height, 35 cm width, 25 cm thickness) does not exceed 115 cm and whose maximum weight is 8 kg can be carried free of charge in a hard case instead of hand luggage.

 

If, on the other hand, the musical instrument has dimensions between 55x35x25 and 52x40x135 (including any pedestal if not removable) and a maximum weight of 35 kg, it can only be transported in the cabin by reserving an additional seat at least 48 hours prior to flight departure, subject to availability. The reservation of the additional seat for the musical instrument can only be made through SkyAlps Customer Service (by sending an email to reservation(at)skyalps.com  or by calling +39 0471 060950). Alternatively, it is also possible to embark musical instruments in the hold (under passenger's responsibility).

If you decide to travel with your musical instruments (in the extra seat or in the hold), you must arrive at check-in at least 60 minutes before the check-in closing time for other passengers.

Problems with your luggage

Should your luggage be delayed, lost or damaged, please go to the Lost&Found office at the arrival airport for assistance.

 

Delayed luggage

Should your luggage be delivered late, SkyAlps is responsible for refunding a lump sum up to a maximum of €75.00 for the costs incurred for the purchase of replacement items such as toiletries, underwear and a change of clothes. If you need assistance, please contact lf(at)skyalps.com. To obtain reimbursement, please send an email to claim(at)skyalps.com.
SkyAlps reserves the right to deny the refund if the request does not comply with the above rules.

 

Lost luggage

In case of lost luggage, file a report at the Lost & Found desk at your arrival airport. Our operators will immediately take steps to trace your luggage and arrange for its return. SkyAlps takes responsibility for the loss if the luggage is not found within 21 days of the report. SkyAlps assumes no liability for loss caused by passenger error.

Damaged luggage

If your luggage has been damaged, please report the damage immediately to the Lost&Found office at your arrival airport. If the office is closed, you have 7 days to file a claim. To claim damages please send an email to claim(at)skyalps.com.
